Winchester is alive with natural, historic and architectural treasures. Each year the guides offer a programme of themed walking tours which allow them to share their special interests and enthusiasms. Let us show you some of the private buildings and hidden places of Winchester. Then there are our traditional seasonal delights as the year draws to a close. A lunch hour tour with a difference - explore Winchester through the history of one street.

Tours start at 1pm and last 45 minutes.

Explore the route of Winchester’s lost railway. It includes a rare opportunity to go inside the disused Chesil Tunnel.

The walk includes steps and steep slopes so sensible footware is advised.

Follow in the footsteps of the poet Keats through the watermeadows from Winchester to St Cross (approximately 1 mile). Includes a brief tour of the medieval Hospital of St Cross. Refreshments can be purchased from the Tea Room. Walk ends at St Cross (buses every half hour back to Winchester). Sensible clothing and footware advised. Tours start at 2pm and last 2 hours.

Discover the story of the original 'Abbey' of Abbey Gardens, then see inside Abbey House, the Mayor's official residence and find out about our city's long civic history stretching back to 1155.

Accessibility: Ground floor only for wheelchair users - 2 storey building. Shallow steps on flight of stairs.

Tickets: £8.50 - minimum age 12 (includes donation to the Mayor's Charities). Group limited to 15.

The story of the medieval charity of St John's and its almshouses, including a visit inside the charity's boardroom.

Accessibility: Unfortunately the tour is not suitable for those who cannot manage stairs/steps.
