A guided walk exploring Winchester’s varied and unusual trees, including the evergreen with healing properties and the tree with the provocatively-shaped fruits called “Dog’s Bottom”!
Join one of Winchester’s professional guides for a 90 minute walking tour, starting at Winchester Visitor Information Centre.
Find out about the trees which frame the historic Abbey Gardens. Then hear stories about the indigenous trees near Winchester’s great cathedral. Spot some extraordinary trees along the way such as the spectacular Handkerchief Tree, Foxglove Tree and quirky Indian Bean Tree and discover the tree with healing properties for those with a severe disease. The walk concludes in a garden with tales about trees in College Street.
Tickets are £12 for adults, £5 for children (under 16) and available in advance through the website or in person on the day at the Visitor Information Centre subject to availability. Tickets may be bought for the evening tour prior to the start with cash only from the guide, if still available.
