A look at some of Winchester’s buildings that date from the Georgian era. The walk will consider the styles and materials used but also stories from behind the front doors of 1700s Winchester society.
Learn about high society, religious tolerance and working life, what happened to three city gates and most of the city’s wall, keeping up appearances and mathematical tiles! An eclectic mix of people and architecture through time. An ideal companion tour to the Jane Austen’s Winchester, George Shepherd’s Regency Winchester and Regency Scandals tours in this 250th anniversary year of Jane Austen’s birth.
